New Vandenbrink 599 GTO

Well it looks like a Ferrari, and its going to be powered by a Ferrari engine but sadly this beautiful concept won’t be built be Ferrari but instead by VandenBrink Designs. This new design will feature a Ferrari Enzo power plant and the famous “GTO” markings as tribute to the early-sixties Ferrari 250 GTO. This beauty comes in either handcrafted aluminum or carbon fiber but with only a planned production run of five total cars and three of those already spoken for it might be to late to own this gorgeous tribute to classic Ferrari design.

The Lexus LF-A is powered by a V10, 500hp front mid-range engine. With a rear mounted trans-axle and rear mounted radiators, this car is perfectly balanced and can easily do 200mph. There is no word yet on cost or production but;
“The first LF-A was a pure concept, but one that we went so far as to conduct engineering analysis on. This latest concept is much closer to a vehicle that we would bring to market, and one in which we will be gauging consumer interest.” Said Bob Carter, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager.

Weber Carbon-Fiber Concept

The Swiss company Weber Sportscars unveiled their latest concept car last month in Monaco. It is a coupe measuring in at just over 177 inches in length, built on an aluminum frame and a carbon fiber body. All parts for this car were designed and built completely in-house. Under the hood it has a supercharged 7.0L engine which spits out 900hp and 775 ft.lbs. or torque. All that power pushed this car 0-60mps in 2.5 seconds while reaching a top speed of 249mph! The base model of this car will include; active four-wheel drive, traction control, four 29gal. fuel tanks, a rear view camera and a rain sensor. There is no work on availability or pricing yet.

BMW Concept CS

BMW featured a new 4-door coupe concept at the Shanghi Auto Show called the Concept CS. It is longer and lower than the 7-series and if this car hit production it would most likely sport a 6.0-liter 12-cylinder engine and have almost the same chassis as the 7-series. Lexus wins the award for the most expensive hybrid to date ($104,750). Available in June this 5.0 V8 hybrid powertrain will have a combined horsepower rating of 438HP. Don’t buy it just for the power, this baby packs; LED headlights, four-zone climate control (with a dedicated A/C unit for the rear passengers), voice-activated HDD-based navigation system with XM real-time traffic directing, 19-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, rear DVD entertainment system with 9″ LCD screen, automated parallel parking system and an Advanced Pre-Collision System (APCS).

2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR

Shelby is celebrating the 40th aniversary of the “Eleanor” 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR. Only 1000 of these are going to be made and will be available Spring 2008. This is going to be the fastest production mustang to date packing a 540-hp 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack, 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, short-throw shifter, and unique suspension tuning.

Dodge Demon Concept

I don’t usually do two car posts in a row, but with the Geneva Auto Show coming up soon this is what you get. This is the Dodge Demon Concept. It sports a 172hp 2.4L engine, six speed manual, and 19 inch rims. This car is designed to compete with the popular Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, as well as the Mazda MX-5.

New Toyota Hybrid Concepts at Geneva

It looks like Toyota is going to be showing off two new hybrid concepts next month at the Geneva Auto Show. One of them, the Hybrid X, is supposed to completely change the future of hybrid technology. The other of the two new concepts is the FT – HS (Future Toyota Hybrid Sports). It packs a front engine with rear drive , and is expected to run 0-100km/h in about four seconds.
