Tom Perkins a incredibly successful businessman and recently he wanted to create the biggest, fastest, highest-tech, most self-indulgent sailboat ever built. He has succeeded by building the Maltese Falcon, a $130 million dollar high-tech sailing yacht. The yacht itself is nearly as long as a football field (289 feet) and is 42ft wide with three masts supporting the multiple sails. Each of the three masts are nearly twenty stories high, made out of carbon-fiber, and are entirely freestanding and rotate by computer. The Falcon is also one of the most luxurious yachts ever constructed with beautiful staterooms, plasma TV’s, and Jetskis. Also the computer system in the Falcon is one of the most advanced on the planet allowing for the fifteen huge sails to unfold with only the the touch of a button. The yacht has been such a huge success that Newsweek‘s David A. Kaplan has even written a book on the entire project entitled Mine’s Bigger: Tom Perkins and the Making of the Greatest Sailing Machine Ever Built Photos – Read the rest of this entry »

This diamond studded ice cream cone came from Bruster’s ice cream company. Bruster’s sweet cone is made of 20 troy ounces of 18k white and yellow gold, 548 round diamonds, 87 square emerald cut diamonds, and one astonishing 5.63 carat Yellow radiant cut diamond. The dessert look a like was created by Lazare Kaplan International Inc. This blinged out cone was created with all intentions of showing off the signature waffle cone. Fortunately the one of a kind ice cream cone will be sold for 1 million dollars, and the proceeds will benefit a charity. Although this may not be edible, it still would be nice to have the original million dollar cone showcased in your home.

The Only Watch event is coming again September 20th in Monaco. The Only Watch event is held yearly for watchmakers to design unique pieces that will eventually be auctioned off to benefit research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. With that being said, some of the most unique watches are showcased. One watch that stood out from the rest was a masterpiece produced by Girard-Perregaux. “Unlike any other in the world, this is the first watch to combine perpetual calendar, the indication of time in 24 different international cities as well as the business hours of four major stock markets. The dial displays the date, the day of the week, the month and the moon phase. The mechanism takes into account the length of each month, allowing for the leap years without any manual adjustment before 2100. Two mobile rings on the dial show the opening hours of the New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo and the different times around the world”. Ideally this would be perfect for the international traveller, yet, I could still see many others finding this extremely fascinating.
