(NASDAQ: GOOG) announced today that it has agreed to acquire iWishihadthis.com, the consumer review company that follows luxury trends and unique products, for $65 million in a stock-for-stock transaction. Following the acquisition, iWishihadthis.com will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and passionate community.

The acquisition combines one of the largest and fastest growing online product and entertainment resources with Google’s expertise in organizing information and creating new models for advertising on the Internet. The combined companies will focus on providing a better, more comprehensive experience for users interested in buying extraordinary gifts for themselves or others, and will offer new opportunities for independent designers to distribute their work to reach a vast new audience.

When the acquisition is complete, iWishihadthis.com will retain its distinct brand identity, strengthening and complementing Google’s own fast-growing e-commerce business. iWishihadthis.com will continue to be based in Phoenix, AZ, and all iWishihadthis.com employees will remain with the company. With Google’s technology, advertiser relationships and global reach, iWishihadthis.com will continue to build on its success as one of the world’s most popular services for luxury blogging.

The number of Google shares to be issued in the transaction will be determined based on the 30-day average closing price two trading days prior to the completion of the acquisition. Both companies have approved the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2008. By the way this is just a joke! Some of you may not know that I (Tim Zastrow) have recently moved to Sydney, Australia. Due to the complications of moving to a foreign country and the difficultes of setting up fast and reliable internet service I have been unable to post anything for your viewing pleasure for the past few weeks. I have been upgrading the site today, making it a little more automated for our authors. The upgrade completed but kind of left a mess of some of the older posts, and the categories view. Please excuse us we are trying to fix it s soon as possible.

It has been a while since there has been anything worthy of writing about on this site. So I decided it was time for a fresh look. The old design was getting boring to me and was too dark. I hope you all enjoy this new look.
