partidaeleante.jpg

Partida is one of the fastest growing distilleries that we have wrote about. They have added a new member to their line, Partida Elegante Tequila ($350) is their latest ultra-premium spirit which will be available this fall. It is an extra añejo tequila which is aged more than 36 months in American oak. They use only estate grown 100% blue agave, which is hand harvested and cooked in stainless steel autoclaves. The bottle comes in a gift box with a crystal top. To top it off they added a Mexican sterling silver Partida Tequila Spirit Bird on a black leather strap tied around the neck of the bottle.

Looking for some new glasses, especially for your bar? Alissia Melka-Telchroew just put out a new line of inside out glasses. “The shape of a drinking glass reflects its content: columnar flute for champagne, curvy goblet for wine, short shot glass for straight liquor, stout highball for cocktails.” These glasses are not only visually pleasing, but could potentially help keep the drinks cooler with the double wall. Home Brewing System

August 27, 2007

The image above looks like a DIY drug lab but its not (unless you consider alcohol a drug). The Home Brewing System does everything from boiling concentrated wort to pouring a nice cold glass of beer. Future plans are to include a third cart to convert raw grain to wort. The brewing process takes about 3 months and costs $4,315 for the Home Brewing System. Depending on how much you drink this thing could pay for itself. [via] More Pictures and a Video.

The Lolita “Love my Martini” ($24) collection are hand-painted, martini (and other) glasses. Lolita designs each glass and a recipe, which appears on the bottom. Some of the most popular designs are; Dirty Martini (with strategically placed olives), Birthday Girl, and Flirtini. She has special holiday designs, too, like “Frosty’s Going Down” where the famous snowman is melting away. They are selling like crazy – almost 2 million pieces will sell this year alone! The collectible glasses are sold at about 10,000 stores and many websites. Some of the retired glasses (Wicked Witch-tini) have gone for $150+ on eBay. Lolita’s glasses make it easy to entertain, just grab a bunch of the different designs – a different one for each person – and make the drink that appears on the bottom of each. No need for those charms that people sell to tell different glasses apart.

Charbay Meyer Lemon Vodka

August 15, 2007
meyerlemon.jpg

As we all know Charbay produces some of the worlds best spirits and their new batch of Meyer Lemon Vodka is no different. Charbay uses fresh Meyer Lemons (a cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange) and blend it with their award winning clear vodka to produce a drink that tastes like 100% real freshly picked Meyer Lemons. The secret is that Charbay shreds the lemons, skin and all to extract as much flavor as possible from them, giving the vodka a burst of flavor with every sip. This recent batch of Meyer Lemon Vodka almost never made to the market as the citrus freeze this past January nearly wiped out the crop of Meyer Lemons but thankfully they were picked at the perfect time and now we can all enjoy Charbay’s Meyer Lemon Vodka at around $30 a bottle.

Back in 2000, Moonstone (SakéOne) was one of the first company’s that started selling flavored sakes in the US. Now they have an expansive variety including a new Coconut Lemongrass Sake. The new flavor is a Nigori (cloudy) sake infused with the flavors of coconut and lemongrass giving it a truly unique taste. The new sake is supposedly a perfect match to Asian and Thai inspired cuisine and the new flavor has even already won a gold medal at the Taster’s Guild International Wine Competition. The best part is that the Coconut Lemongrass Sake can be found around $11 a bottle.

MyFountain

August 12, 2007
myfountain_xl.jpg

Well it was only a matter of time but its official, the age old art of bar tending is finally coming to an end with the introduction of MyFountain by Digital Beverages. MyFounatain is a completely computerized beverage dispenser that can automatically pour and mix drinks with only a touch of a button. The dispenser allows for a maximum of 12 drinks to be stored individually in a refrigerator below the counter but the best part is that the software integrated into the dispenser can automatically give you drink recipes and suggestions based on contents of the refrigerator. Once you have selected a drink the dispenser will automatically pour it and then sanitize the lines so cross contamination of various liquids won’t happen. MyFountain can also hold beer, wine and carbon-dioxide for a lil extra carbonation in addition to liquor and should retail for about $2500

We here at iWishihadthis.com have a found appreciation of all things alcoholic (such as our recent Dos Lunas Tequila Review) and it seems that the people over at Highland Park have the same passion as we do. Highland Park produces several varieties of single malt whiskey and has been said to be “The Best Spirit In The World” as told by famed whiskey reviewer Paul Pacult. The whiskey itself is carefully crafted by hand turning the malt and using a climate controlled maturation process, all while resting in Sherry and Bourbon casks. However it seems the “secret” ingredient is Orkney peat, giving the whiskey smoky and spicy tones that set it apart form the competition . Highland park offers their single market whiskies in 12, 18, 25, and 30-year varieties that vary in price form $120 to $360 as well as offering several special varieties such as the Rebus 20.

Dos Lunas Tequilas

August 10, 2007
dlbottleshot.JPG

Dos Lunas ($50) ultra-premium tequilas are not only 100% Blue Agave, but all-natural and award-winning. Bottled in the highlands of Jalisco, Dos Lunas Silver holds the aroma of leather, oil, and dark roasted pineapple. A soft, round entry leads to a dryish, glycerous medium-bodied palate with charred tropical fruits, honey, whipped cream, and peppery spices. Dos Lunas Reposado is aged for nine months using a combination of used Tennessee Whiskey barrels and new American White Oak – charred barrels. Dos Lunas Reposado scored highest (94 Points) and was awarded Gold Medal in October 2006 at Chicago’s International Review of Spirits. This tequila finishes with a long, sweet and peppery fade of cream, dried tropical fruit, white pepper, and dusty minerals. The chemical-free fermentation and double distillation processes set Dos Lunas Tequila apart. In its first year, Dos Lunas Tequila has expanded to Texas, Florida, Colorado, and New Mexico, and is also available in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Alberta, Canada.
