HTC has raised the bar for their Touch series phones. The Touch Pro2 has an upgraded screen (3.6-inch 800 x 400), and a dedicated touch-sensitive zoom slider. It features a 3.2 megapixel camera, MicroSD expansion, and “Straight Talk” technology for contact transition between email, text, and calls. It even has a full-duplex speakerphone, which is activated by flipping the phone over. Expect to see this phone in major global markets early this summer. See another photo of it.

Today the world was officially introduced to the new HTC Touch. The Touch is the latest device from HTC offering a 2.8-inch touchscreen with QVGA resolution, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, 1GB microSD card (thankfully included), 2-megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6, tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 802.11b/g, and Bluetooth 2.0. With all this technology packed into a relatively thin package (3.9in x 2.2in x 0.5mm) it seems to be the only product at this time to be able to compete with the iPhone. It’s also available in two colors, soft black or wasabi and has a very intelligent user interface backed by Windows Mobile 6. Currently the only big downside to the Touch is the the fact that it is not a 3G phone, this may be a deal breaker for some but for others this new smartphone will have a lot to offer.

It looks like HTC is beginning its shift from the dying PocketPC market to the new UMPC market, with the HTC Shift. This little guy does not have a price, but should drop late in 2007. It packs a 7-inch touch screen, a 30GB hard drive. Wireless: 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth. a QWERTY keyboard and Microsoft Vista Business OS.
