Lull Lamp
August 28, 2007

Lull is the new award winning product made for Giform 2007, a design competition in Norway. This lamp is different from all others because of its ability to open and close in morning and night. The Lull lamp not only looks like a flower, but also opens and closes like one. At night this lamp gives off a soft glow, while it slowly turns itself off; meanwhile in the morning, the lamp slowly opens itself increasing the light intensity slowly for a pleasurable awakening.

Hey Brigitte,
Do you know where we can order it?!
Isabelle, although it has not been formally announced, we are going to start a store on iWishihadthis.com.
Unfortunately it wont be open for another month or two. Out store is going to feature products like this, which are hard to find mainly because they are made by independent designers. Check back on iWishihadthis.com for more updates about the store.
(Birgitte may have more information on this particular product).
Hey Isabelle,
As of right now I really don’t know where this product can be purchased.. the only information I know as to where it was and stuff and that is that it was the award winning product made for Giform 2007. But because of your interest in the product I did write an email to get some information and see where (and if) it can be purchased. I will get back to you as soon as I hear back!
Adam and Brigitte,
THanks for taking the time to answer me! I’m looking forward to know if it’s easilly available… and how much it may cost!
A store! That’s an interesting thing: a blog turning into an online store. I invite you to tell me a bit before the official opening, so I can prepare a post about you guys. By the way, where are you located?
Isabelle, our store is going to have limited inventory and mostly be based off drop-shipping. The focus of our store is to help independent designers get their products sold. I will be sure to let you know before we open.
Most of our staff is located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. What about you Isabelle, where are you located?
Adam-
It’s a very interesting idea, and I guess it may be helpful for the designers, especially if you have a great amount of visitors.
Me? I’m located in Quebec City, in Canada. Yeah, I’m a little French Canadian! =)
From the designers Audun Kollstad, Heidi Buene and Marianne Varmo from Norway:
We are working to find a manufacturer for it, and we are happy to let the visitors of this page be the first to get hold of our lamp. Its to early to say excactly when the product will reach the market and how much it will be sold for in the shops.
Please drop me an e-mail and I will put you on our mailing list. I guess we will know more about this in the beginning of 2009.
Here are some information about Lull:
Good sleeping habits contribute to a better everyday life where if feels easier to find energy for play and activity.
Lull seems alive where it’s strategically located pendent from the ceiling above the bed.
It works like this: As a bud during sunrise it stretches it leaves to bloom. It opens carefully and dims up, finally to give a powerful morning light.
In the evening Lull acts the opposite. When its time to go to bed, the flower slowly closes while the light is dimming down and it turns into a bud again.
The user will experience a gradually dim instead of the abrupt dark you get from a normal lamp when it gets switched off.
“Some people use so-called conventional objects to calm down and suppress anxiety/ agitation, typical at night. These can be pictures of family members, familiar smells or a teddy bear.”
The purpose of Lull is to enhance the feeling of safety in the sleeping/ awakening surroundings. It will work well together with already establishes evening- and morning rituals. It easily signalizes when you are suppose to be asleep/ awake. The lamp is designed with consultation from psychologist and specialist on sleeping problems; Dr.Ståle Pallesen.
The motion of the leaves is controlled by a motor, and the light has a time-adjustable dimmer. It is to be set individually for each users recommended cycle of sleep.
The flower consists of 3 different petals that are multiplied five times around the center. They and the other components will be injection moulded in recyclable polycarbonate.
Have a wonderful day!
